The Daily Texture for 10/14/2015 |
Today's Daily Texture is so versatile and can be used with a variety of subjects, both cool and warm toned. I used this texture with this Red Shouldered Hawk photo. Because the sky was a solid gray, I didn't have to do any masking away of the background behind the bird. I simply added the texture on top in multiply layer mode, and masked some of that layer off of the face and wings of the bird to maintain some brightness in those areas. Then I duplicated the texture layer again and placed it on top, setting it to soft light at about 65% to complete the image. |

Misty Autumn Morning
Today's Daily Texture has some deep, rich autumn red and brown tones, but is more neutral in nature, with the colors being subtle despite their depth. I paired this texture with one of my dog photos, which was taken on a gray, cloudy day and it worked very well, both as a background and as layers on top in multiply layer mode (30%) and soft light layer mode (50%). I'd love to see what you guys do with this one...be sure to share your creations on the Daily Texture Facebook page! |

Turning Leaves
Today's Daily Texture is inspired by some beautiful red leaves I saw as the foliage starts to turn here in Tennessee. I paired it with one of my lovely male Cardinals. First I masked away his background, and then I duplicated the texture and placed it on top, setting it to soft light at only about 50%, as I wanted to keep the colors somewhat soft. After merging everything, I adjusted the overall contrast of the image just a little. |

Forest Morning
Today's Daily Texture is another forest one, with a little hint of a watery look across the bottom. I used this texture on both of the example images shown here. I didn't do any masking on these - I simply used the texture on top of the images in various layer modes and opacities. I reduced the saturation a little on the layers of texture in order to keep the yellow tones under control. If you have a subject with various shades of green as my two subjects had, this texture will work very nicely with them! Like this texture? Buy it here. Commerical Use OK. |
