Wildlife Masterpieces 1 Scenic Background
Today I'm introducing the first of some new painted, scenic backgrounds in my Wildlife Masterpieces series I'm working on. This background features more painterly grass with a nice, thick canvas texture as well. It's a great background for you to use with your zoo photos, to take the wild animals out of captivity and place them in a scene where they look more natural. You can also use this background {which is made available in 10 color tones, by the way} with your domestic animals, birds and even people subjects if you want to get really creative. :)
I used Wildlife Masterpieces 1 Scenic Background with both of the wild cat images below. And for those of you who wanted a tutorial on how to work with my grass backgrounds, I've provided a new video below just for you! I hope you enjoy the video and using this background with your favorite subjects.

An Important Announcement, and Introducing... Beachy |
Today's Daily Texture is filled with rich, bright spring olive green with some touches of pink and blue. I paired this new texture with a photo of one of my deer as she was eating breakfast near the pond. The colors of the green in the texture blended well with the grass she was nibbling on. :) I masked away her background and some of her legs to blend her nicely with the texture, keeping the focus on her pretty little face. After masking, I added the texture as a new layer on top, set to multiply at about 30%. Then I duplicated that layer and changed it to soft light at 50% to complete this image. At this point, I could publish this piece "as is", but I believe I'm going to take it a step farther and do some painting on the deer, as well as add some strokes to her background to create a really expressive piece of art. But this is a great starting point for the direction I want to go with this work. | Like this texture? Buy it here for only $2.50. Commercial Use OK. |

Spring At The Shore
Today's Daily Texture is filled with strong beach spring tones. It was the perfect match for this still life photo of a sea shell and starfish. I photographed the objects against a white background, and then masked away that background with the photo on top of the texture. Then I duplicated the texture and placed it on top, setting it to soft light at about 35%, which helped to infuse the color more into the objects and tie everything together nicely for this beach art. |

Roadside Spring Blooms
Today's Daily Texture is a bold, abstract one, filled with luscious purples, lavenders, lilacs and a touch of gold and green. It was the perfect texture to blend with this photo of some wild wisteria I took a couple weeks ago. The photo as a whole wasn't that great, but this one section of flower was good. By blending in just that one section with this abstract spring texture, I was able to turn it into a full size work of art! I used the texture as a background, and also as a soft light layer on top at 100%. Then I added the words to the finished piece with one of my pencil brushes. |

Petals In The Air
The Spring theme continues with Today's Daily Texture, Petals In The Air. I decided this texture would be a perfect way to tone down the busy background in this fun Cedar Waxwing photo, and bring the focus more onto the bird. So I used the texture as a background, being careful to leave a hint of the original background showing, especially around the bird to ground him. Then I duplicated the texture layer and after placing it on top, set it to multiply at 30%. I duplicated it again and set it to soft light at 100% to complete the image. |
