January Memories Texture
White Beauty - Peacock Art
Strong brushstrokes and natural colors of blues, browns and tans make up Today's Daily Texture.  I paired it with this photo of a white peacock I took last winter.  First I used the texture as a background, and then I duplicated the texture layer and placed it on top.  At this point, I resized it to place the lightest spot on the texture over her face and head area, and then set it to soft light layer mode at about 50%.

I am a great admirer of your work and am also very appreciative of you telling us how you achieve it. You often say "I resized it to place the lightest spot on the texture over her face and head area..." I have spent much time trying to do this but can't seem to figure it out.

I.E. I'm using a texture which is dark around the edges but light in the center. How can I move the center light so it better fits my subject but still retain the darkness on the edges? When I get the center light under my subject, the dark edges are no longer visible on some sides. I bet this is a no brainer but......my brain is pretty old.
Can you please help me?
Thanks in advance, Lois Heidrick (Berie)

Lois -- I'm sure that Jai will also give you some helpful tips.. I find that if you activate the texture layer after you bring it into your image and then click on CTRL T or the Transform tool -- you can then click on the corners of the bounding box to resize. It is easier to see if you lower the opacity on the image layer while you are resizing the texture layer. Then while still on the texture layer, place your cursor on the texture image itself and you can move the texture around. I hope this makes sense to you.
