What are the best collections to use with FLOWERS?I get asked this question frequently, and after stumbling on ten beautiful blooming Irises yesterday in my yard, I decided to finally figure out the answer! Flowers are not my normal subject matter. Of course, when I see a pretty one, I always take a photo or two, but I'm mainly a wildlife photographer and am focused on subjects with fur and feathers rather than petals when it comes to my photo art. I couldn't pass up this opportunity when I saw these Irises, however, so a new project was born -- let's explore all of the collections and see what are the best choices to use with flowers one might casually photograph outdoors during the spring season.  Out of the group I saw, this pair was the one I decided to focus on. The lighting was decent, but the background was questionable...that white plastic fence doesn't look very artistic. My first goal was to brighten the flowers a bit, and then mask away the boring background. Then I saved the image as a PNG file with a transparent background, enabling me to then place it on different textures from many collections to see what transpired. If I liked the result, I duplicated the texture layer and placed it on top of everything, and set it to soft light layer mode with an opacity of 30-100%. I followed the same process for each one of these images. Below are my examples using these flowers, created with 30 different collections -- all of which have been placed on sale until May 31, 2025 during our May Flowers Sale:  Abstract Adventures Collection The Abstract Adventures Collection is huge! This collection of 190 textures is a fusion of muted neutrals and a stunning palette of matte-finish greens, blues, pinks, reds, oranges, and yellows. At the heart of Abstract Adventures lies a refined balance between boldness and subtlety. The neutral tones of ivory, grays, whites, blacks, and browns serve as the foundation for the vibrant splashes of color that punctuate the collection. Honestly this was not my first choice when thinking of flowers, but now that I've used it, I see an amazing amount of potential with this collection to create some very unique and interesting flower art.
The Ascend Collection features 20 square background textures, filled with a range of cheerful color and soft,ethereal brushstrokes. This is one of the first collections I go to when I start a piece of flower art. The colors in the collection are beautiful, and the ethereal look of these backgrounds really help to set off the beauty of flowers, making this set a win-win for flower art.  Breathless Collection The Breathless Texture Collection features 20 painted textures in a variety of lighter, more pastel, color tones. It's an older collection, and one I often forget about when looking for a set to use for florals, but it's clear now, this set shouldn't be overlooked.  Fall Whispers Collection The Fall Whispers Texture Collection features 40 textures filled with soft and subtle natural Autumn tones. There are 20 SOFT styled textures and 20 ABSTRACT styled textures - use them alone or together for unique and interesting effects. This is another set I probably wouldn't have thought of right off the bat, but if looking to create flower art with warmer autumn color tones, it is an excellent choice.  Fragile Collection The Fragile Texture Collection features 30 watercolor portrait textures, featuring a wide range of tones with an ethereal feel for your most delicate subjects. It's a definite go to set to create lovely flower art with a fine art feel to the overall work.  Full Circle 3 Collection Designed with the intention to add interest to your creative projects, each texture within the Full Circle 3 collection features distinctive gold circle elements strategically placed to serve as focal points, seamlessly integrating with your photos for a harmonious blend. These textures have been crafted with precision and passion, embodying a unique synergy between water-inspired artistry and the timeless allure of gold accents. This collection is filled with natural color tones, making the perfect artistic backdrops when you're ready to create some unique flower art which is fun and refreshing.
The Illumination Texture Collection features 28 rich textures/backgrounds, each featuring a beautiful glow to bring light and focus to your subject. The Illumination 2 Texture Collection features 20 textures rich with beautiful glow and color, to bring light and focus to your subject, just as the original Illumination Collection does. These two collections are MUST HAVES in my arsenal of textures. Not only are they fantastic backgrounds which work with a variety of subjects, but I often use textures from these collections on top of my art pieces {usually in soft light layer mode} to adjust color, lighting and tones for my final art.  Immersed in Light Collection The Immersed In Light Texture Collection features 20 glowing background textures, all with beautiful, ethereal light. I also consider this collection a MUST HAVE in my work -- just as with this Illumination Collections, I use these frequently, and with flower art is no exception. The rich tones and awesome light make the artwork look exceptional.
The Island Dreams Texture Collection features 45 texture backgrounds, filled with luscious brush strokes in a variety of spring and summer beach, sea, and ocean colors. This collection was a pleasant surprise! After creating the first Iris image, I decided to try again with a second one, and it turned out just as lovely, making this collection a fabulous, but unexpected, contender for amazing flower art, especially if you're wanting to create floral art with a slight coastal feel.  Let There Be Light The Let There Be Light Collection features 18 square background textures, each filled with a glow of beautiful light, perfect for bringing the focus onto your favorite subjects. Like the Immersed In Light and Illumination Collections, this is another MUST HAVE collection in my arsenal. Not just for backgrounds, but for placing on top and changing tones/lighting of the final art, this set is amazing.  Memoryscapes Flowers Embrace the boundless possibilities of creativity with the Memoryscapes Flowers collection, a set featuring 12 breathtaking backgrounds which transport you to expansive fields of floral blossoms. This one surprised me! I wasn't sure how well a large flower or two placed with one of these backgrounds would work, but I'm very pleased with the unique and almost whimsical look this one portrays. Therefore, I do suggest this as a strong possibility for your floral art.
