The Daily Texture for 01/17/2016
Today's Daily Texture is a misty, winter one, perfect for adding to your subjects which require a softer, more subtle touch. I used this texture with the owl again, and this time, I was focused on hiding that squirrel she was holding on the branch and creating a totally different mood with the art. Instead of her appearing like the predator she is, I wanted her to appear sweet and soft. I placed her on top of the texture and blended that right area and bottom area away quite a bit, to bring the texture right over where the squirrel was. I also blended away some of her feathers on the right wing, up to about her neck, to make a smooth transition from top to bottom and to make it appear as if the "mist" was swirling around her body. Then I duplicated the texture and placed it on top, setting it to soft light layer mode at 100%.

Winter Morning At The Shore
If you love beach tones, even in the winter, you'll enjoy Today's Daily Texture, Winter Morning At The Shore. I paired this texture with one of my Osprey photos. First I used Topaz Remask to remove the background from the original Osprey photo. This revealed the texture underneath. Then I added the texture again as a new layer on top, in soft light layer mode at an opacity of about 70%.

Horizon At Dusk
Today's Daily Texture is a luscious, dark blue/green, perfect for a variety of subjects or to blend with other textures and effects to add drama to your work. I used this texture as a multiply overlay for this eagle fishing photo, and masked some of the multiply layer off the bird's head, feet and fish in order to keep the strong splash on sunlight in those areas. I then merged the layers, and duplicated the merged one. To finish things out, I used Topaz Lens Effects on the duplicate layer, and chose a gold reflector filter for the right, masking all but a small strip of this layer away. This added just a tiny touch of gold from that upper right corner going toward the bird, to give the illusion of a fading sun at the end of the day.
